Did you know that Corona was once known as “The Lemon Capital of the World?” In 1935 at the peak of production 2,406 acres of lemons were harvested filling 1,138 railroad cars. Things have changed a bit since then, but that is an important part of the proud heritage of this city that should be remembered and celebrated. At one time, the Corona Lemon Festival was an annual 3-day event with parades, pageants, dances and carnivals. The Festival became a victim of the economic downturn and hasn’t been celebrated since 2007. The Corona Art Association is excited to bring it back.
